The City can always depend on the
Band to perform at its civic events. Saturday, May 2, 2015, there
are several conflicting city events around town, but the Band has
been requested to perform in front of City Hall for the Shed and
So, bright and early Saturday
Morning, the Band assembles at Cicely Tyson School, dresses in
their uniforms and forms up prepared to march to City Hall.
It's a brief walk to City Hall
compared to marching to many of their other performances.
They march on into City Hall
Plaza and up to the main steps of City Hall.
There was mention of City Hall
giving away trees which can last for years, but it appears they
settled on the usual annuals which will be dead in six months.
The Band is there to play for the
crowd, and they do that with gusto.
Then the drumline performs and
ends with its customary bow to the crowd.
Afterwards, the Band prepares to
do an about face and head back the other way.
They march back to the school,
their civic duty done. In the center of the photo under the One
Way Sign is Tabius Scott playing the bass drum. He has a surprise
waiting for him back at the school.
Happy birthday to Tabius Scott,
thanks to a birthday cake provided by Nneka Ann Ajaghanna
(in pink). Shayanne Crosdale, who plays flute in the band, also
is celebrating her birthday today. The Band really IS a big happy
